for my last instalment of my across the pond adventures i take you to america

after driving across the border we indulged in a little macyd's breakfast (not pictured above) now i have notice in canada they really can't give two stuffs that you're english but two miles down the road and across the border the first thing we were greeted with was 'oh my god i love your accent!' which i have to admit i love a little bit...

our american adventure was to visit a fort (r loves a fort) now i can take them or leave them (especially when its 29 degrees) so i went and hid in the shade with mama whilst the boys looked round. we then wandered down the the kings gardens, a beautiful little walled garden with a big white house and a little path down to the lake champlain. i also discovered a new love in my life, ice cream sandwiches. mainly M&M ones, just devine.

after all the fort shenanigans we drove down to the town off essex, so obviously we had to wander round and tell everyone we met that we were from essex too! we went on the ferry across the lake to vermont, the scenery across the lake was glorious and i couldn't resist taking 'hair flowing in the wind' pictures of everyone, i tried but looked like a silly sod as per!

once we were across the lake we drove to burlington for dinner which was admittedly very american but man they make a good salmon dinner! wish we could have had some time to mooch round the shops but we had a bit of a drive ahead of us.

the next adventure was to the botanical gardens (you all know how much a like to take pictures of wooded areas, so there were about ten shots the same as the one above) the weather was boiling so pale and pasty over here hid in the shade for most of the trip.

my favourite part was the greenhouses, this one had lots of cactuses which induced lots of impressions of cactuses (i know, we're an odd bunch) but the place had lots of little corners and doors to go through which made it allot more interesting. plus it was pretty, which always makes me happy!

this is my last canada post but i have one more from our day trip to america so the adventures won't stop just yet! (guess i will have to go on more adventures!)

my next section of my canada adventure is a slightly smaller style based snippet.

after having another brunch (such a hard life) j and family newman went for a wander and didn't do that much, but in the evening we went to j's gig for his band continental rhythm in a rather nice cafe.

i've had this dress since last summer and with my new boots purchased with my uniform allowance (i couldn't resist i mean look at them they are perfect!) it was the ideal warm evening outfit.

admittedly i did feel a liitttlleee like i was from texas in this outfit, but i don't really see anything wrong with that...

a short but sweet snippet today, i have two more instalments of adventures lined up before they come to an end.

life is a bit hectic at the moment as jay and i are in the process of moving soon and my organisational skills with working full time are still left to be desired but i will do my best to bring you a regular dose of dad jokes and silly poses

this section of my adventures takes place when we arrived back in montreal, j decided that after we need to clime 'the mountain' (rather large hill) quite a few hundred steps later with red faces we reached the top and i lurked in the shade being the pale person i am.

the views a pretttaaaayyy nice, i couldn't resist a 'helloooo canada' picture like the big tourist i am!

this outfit is one of my favourites of the summer, i got this skirt when it was still chilly but i knew it would be a summer favourite, plus its jazzy. whats not to love. 

in the afternoon we went for a wander round the fine art museum, the faberge exhibition was absolutely beautiful, excellent for magpies like me. plus they had faberge sausage dogs, my two favourite things, but the eggs were the shining stars of the exhibition. 

for dinner we ventured out to steak frites which was absolutely devine, cooked to perfection and the waiters refill the bowl of chips in front of you at regular intervals much to r's joy.

j and m took us to a james bond/mad men style secret bar called big in japan which is hidden behind an unmarked door next to a hipster pizza restaurant. strong vintage cocktails served by waiters in bow ties (some with really good hair) even though it was 9 on a thursday evening the place was chocablock!
